The Holland team has been hit by a number of injuries. Arjen Robben (Bayern München), Theo Janssen (FC Twente) and Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Schalke 04) reported injured last weekend. To replace them, coach Bert van Marwijk called up Luuk de Jong (FC Twente), Jeremain Lens (PSV) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (Hamburg SV) on Monday. On Tuesday evening, Hedwiges Maduro (Valencia) had to be substituted by Stijn Schaars (AZ) after a sprained ankle started playing up.

Captain Mark van Bommel (AC Milan) is not fully fit either and won't play in Friday's game. Earlier goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg had to take to the bench because of a broken thumb. Luckily his replacement Michel Vorm is in shape.
