2011 World Pop Contest: final

RNW archive

This article is part of the RNW archive. RNW is the former Radio Netherlands Worldwide or Wereldomroep, which was founded as the Dutch international public broadcaster in 1947. In 2011, the Dutch government decided to cut funding and shift RNW from the ministry of Education, Culture and Science to the ministry of Foreign Affairs. More information about RNW Media’s current activities can be found at https://www.rnw.org/about-rnw-media.

Not Eurovision, not San Remo but a song contest with a difference - more than 2 songs per country are allowed and you have nominated them! All 28 songs are here!

Voting ended on 26 July 2011.

Below we present the 28 songs, the order of presentation was decided through a draw.

The songs are also presented in a playlist on our little channel on YouTube (they are listed there in the same order as below).

You can also open the SCOREBOARD page with the points of the 27 national juries.

VOTER PRIZES:
Your top 5 songs as indicated by your points - or your prediction of the top 5 if you prefer - will be compared with the FINAL result after all the national juries' points have been counted up. There will be prizes for the three people who are closest to the actual final results. These prizes will be awarded only to people who do not work for RNW (people who work for RNW may vote - we're being kind - but may not win any prizes!).

You may think your own points will not be mirrored by the final result. In that case you may give your points first then add a separate prediction of the TOP 5 songs (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th). In the top-5 prediction you may also include a song or the songs from your own country... if you think they are going to do really well! It's all explained in the email.

Here's your VOTING-FORM EMAIL
Or - check the info at the top of this page first - send your own email to eurohit40@rnw.nl

The prizes:
For the voters closest to the actual result:

  • CD(s)/DVD(s) worth up to 20 euros, 1 T-shirt (RNW or EH40), 1 double CD of the Euro Hit 40 show of 2010.
  • The person second closest to the actual result: CD(s)/DVD(s) worth up to 20 euros, 1 T-shirt (RNW or EH40).
  • The person third closest to the actual result: RNW USB stick + 1 RNW T-shirt & 1 Euro Hit 40 T-shirt.

Prediction for prizes
Everyone who gives points will be included in the voter-prizes competition (see very bottom of this page), but you may - but are not required or asked to - also add a separate prediction of the TOP 5 songs. If you do, we will use this when we work out who is to get the voter prizes. In this prediction, you may also include the song or songs of your own country. get a VOTER prize (see bottom of page).

Any problems (example: you cannot see one or more of the videos in your country), then please email us at eurohit40@rnw.nl
