Amsterdam residents in two minds about tourists

Amsterdammers are facing a tough choice. People living in the city centre feel that their neighbourhood is being overrun by tourists, and want the local council to take measures to curb the unpleasant side effects. 

But the city council points out that tourists are a cornerstone of the city's economy. So, instead of reducing the number of tourists, attempts are being made to bring in a different kind of tourist - quieter people with more cash.

The locals remain sceptical.
