Laurent Gbagbo is pleased by the ruling of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Gbagbo’s lawyer, Emmanuel Altit, has asked for the release of the former Ivorian president from the detention centre near The Hague.
The judges ruled that there was insufficient evidence to proceed and have postponed the case.

RNW contacted the ICC prosecutor who is unavailable at this point to respond to the ruling.
