A 60-year-old foreign affairs ministry worker was arrested on March 24th and is suspected of selling sensitive information to Russia.

News of the arrest was released over the weekend.

Police believe that over a period of seven years, the man passed “highly confidential” information to a couple living in Germany. That couple was arrested in October 2011 and are suspected of being spies for Russia.

The public prosecution department is investigating the nature of the information it believes was sold to Russia. It remains unclear whether any information classified as state secrets were sold.
