Just eight minutes into the match Ajax took the lead with a goal by Dmitri Boelikin (1-0). But then two goals by Nana Asare (on 16 minutes) and Edouard Duplan (on 19 minutes) put FC Utrecht ahead (2-1). Before half-time Ajax turned the tables once more, with goals by Andre Ooijer and again Boelikin (2-3).

After half-time, however, FC Utrecht wasted no time and reasserted their supremacy with three goals within a mere five minutes (5-3). The goals were netted by Daan Bovenberg (on 49 minutes), Jacob Mulenga (on 52 minutes) and Asare (on 54 minutes). Christian Eriksen later added one more for Ajax, with FC Utrecht’s Anouar Kali bringing the result to 6-4 in the final minute.

FC Twente have secured a trouble-free 4-0 home win over De Graafschap, their first victory after two consecutive draws. FC Twente took the lead a few minutes before half-time with a goal by Peter Wisgerhof. In the second Luuk de Jong, Ola John and Leroy Fer extended their lead all the way to 4-0. FC Twente are now third from the top of the table, and De Graafschap third from the bottom.

AZ too notched up a straightforward home victory, beating ADO Den Haag 3-0. With 31 points out of twelve matches, AZ continue to lead in pole position. Brett Holman scored the first goal just 11 minutes into the match. But it took AZ another hour to grab the second, thanks to Adam Maher. In the final stages Jozy Altidore brought the score to 3-0.

PSV, who were down 0-1 at half-time, eventually managed to beat Heracles 4-1, thanks to replacement Jeremain Lens. Lens, who entered the pitch right after the start of the second half, first provided the assist for Ola Toivonen to score PSV’s first goal and then went on to notch up a stunning hattrick. Heracles’ only goal had been scored in the first half by Antoine van der Linden.
