A cleaning lady wearing a headscarf is scrubbing the floor at a swimming pool in The Hague, while two elderly ladies in bathing suits are showering. It's a combination of cultures seen in one picture at an exhibition in The Hague Historical Museum, commemorating 400 years of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Turkey.

To give you a taste, here's a selection of pictures from the exhibition, which opens 27 April 2012 and will be on until 2 September 2012.

If you can't wait until then, there is also an exhibition of historic documents relating to Turkish-Dutch relations opening on 22 March 2012 in the National Archives in The Hague. This will run until 1 July 2012.
