In 2011, the Dutch government decided to cut funding and shift RNW from the ministry of Education, Culture and Science to the ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Dutch city of Leiden is home to the Netherlands' oldest university. Leiden University was founded in 1575 by William the Silent, Prince of Orange, and has had a close relationship with the royal family ever since.

Reporter Ashleigh Elson went to visit the university and find out what such long traditions mean to international students in 2011.
