Talks with parties that have shown an interest in taking over Dutch car manufacturer NedCar will take place later this week. However, it is not known how serious the parties are and what conditions they would attach to a possible takeover.

Economic Affairs Minister Maxime Verhagen said this in parliament during a debate on the future of the car factory in the Dutch town of Born. He pointed out that Mitsubishi’s decision to pull out of NedCar has become widely known and that requests for information have been submitted.

Mr Verhagen said that it must become clear first under what conditions Mitsubishi would be willing to sell NedCar to a new party. This is one of the issues the minister will discuss with the Mitsubishi management when he travels to Japan on Monday.
