"Cyber space" means different things
To help them develop their story ideas, RNW organised a day-long session which included 'mapping', story development and interaction with various regional and topic-specific colleagues. “It’s a big subject,” says Janet Anderson, who led the day’s sessions.“Different countries are facing completely different issues – some in the global south are concerned with access, whereas for others like Mexico, cyber crime is key. And for countries already super-connected, there are the problems of protection of data, hacking etc. And it’s really technical! But there are great stories”.
