RNW Media will be at Women Deliver 2019

We are excited to announce that we will be out in force at Women Deliver, which this year focuses on power and its relationship to progress and change.

We have a dynamic package of activities. We are hosting a side event on the Power of Pleasure: where we will emphasise the importance of integrating pleasure in SRHR activities. At the end of the session we will launch a call to action asking like-minded organisations to commit to a pleasure-positive approach.

The side event is only the beginning. We have organised a concurrent session with Global Citizen, on ‘How advertisers and advocates are dismantling gender stereotypes in media’ and at the request of Women Deliver, our international media training programme, RNTC, will train 100 journalists from 66 countries on exploring emotional storytelling when reporting on gender related topics.

We will also present a digital poster on game-changing advocacy for the rights and wellbeing of lesbian women and girls in Africa. And last but not least we will have a major networking space diagonally across from the Youth Zone and next to the food court. Come visit us and pin yourself or your pleasure-positive programme on our global map of pleasure.

Get pleasurised

We have launched a “Call to Action” with the Pleasure Project and Rutgers to emphasise the importance of integrating pleasure in SRHR activities and call on like-minded organisations to commit to a pleasure-positive approach.

Power of Pleasure

We are celebrating the Power of Pleasure by bringing you a series of inspirational talks. There is no doubt that claiming pleasure is claiming power. But what do we need to enable organisations, programmes and young people to integrate a pleasure-positive approach in SRHR activities? Come explore with us and let us surprise you with our latest findings from research and practice.

Dismantling Gender Stereotypes

We have organised a session with Global Citizen to explore how we can challenge gender stereotypes and biases in advertising/media and change people’s perceptions of ‘others’ and reduce discrimination? Join us on Tuesday 4 June, from 13:30 to 14:30 in room 301-305.

Game-changing Advocay for LGBT

We will have a digital poster on game-changing advocacy for the rights and wellbeing of lesbian women and girls in Africa, based on the findings of research from our programme, ‘Rights, evidence, action—amplifying youth voices’ supported by AmplifyChange.
